Ophthalmology Residency The EVMS Department of Ophthalmology provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care to patients over a large catchment across the Hampton Roads community. Residents gain experience at five different hospitals, along with many more private clinics, and learn to treat a wide variety of ocular pathology in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Glaucoma, Cornea, Retina, Oculoplastics, and Neuro-Ophthalmology. EVMS residents are trained in many ophthalmic surgical procedures, particularly cataract extraction, glaucoma surgery, pediatric surgery and ocular trauma. The program has consistently maintained full accreditation by the ACGME.
